Piano Lessons Available in NW Calgary Northwest (NW)At Eden-Smith Music school, private Piano lessons are taught to beginning pianists to get them playing immediately! Body posture, hand shape & positioning, finger movement, foot & leg positioning, & breathing are emphasized to minimize unnecessary movement, while maximizing energy flow & energy use to decrease effort needed.
These concepts are all a part of what is called Alexander Technique. Alexander Technique aids in sight reading, ear development, over all listening skills, & improves a performer's touch on the piano. The result is an increased performance ability & confidence on the part of the performer. Many teaching strategies (e.g. games, flashcards, loonie challenges, student incentives, etc.) are employed during each music lesson, along with a practical workbook, to achieve intended goals. Theory is infused throughout all instruction. The skills taught to beginners is continued within the instruction for intermediate pianists. Knowledge of musical genres, genre development through time, & the contributions of composers & performing artists are seamlessly incorporated into the music instruction. These essential skills aid students in their musical interpretation of a piece. That allows them to successfully develop their own style, while still staying true to the composer, original performer, genre & historical time frame in which the piece was developed. Often, students are not even aware that they are learning these skills. Intermediate students can begin to learn piano accompaniment if they wish during their music lessons. Eden-Smith Music is a music studio (i.e. music school) in Calgary NW offering music lessons in voice (singing), piano, piano keyboard, & theory lessons, along with vocal coaching (vocal coach, voice coach) for beginning through intermediate students of all ages.
Eden-Smith Music follows a traditional school calendar. Lessons typically begin the week of Labour Day & end the second to last week in June. The studio (i.e. music school) is closed during July & August for summer holidays.
